Pat Robertson’s False Predictions

Posted by slowerlane on January 8, 2007

Not to be outdone by himself, Pat Robertson has again ushered in a new year by making jaw dropping (or eye rolling) predictions. In 2004 it was George W. Bush will win re-election by a landslide, 2006 we would see vicious hurricanes and a possible tsunami in the United States. This time it is a cataclysmic terrorist attact during the second half of 2007. This wouldn’t even be news worthy but for the fact that millions of people follow this person as a righteous God fearing individual, that he preface his “predictions” with ‘the Lord said’, and that he like the current administration, is playing on the fears of the American people to advance his own selfish adgenda.

I know not even his most militant followers can possibly take this guy seriously, that he is indeed an authentic and genuine prophet, but just so you know that God himself according to the bible takes personal offense to falsely prophesying in his name, please study the following passages:

You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him. Deuteronomy 18:21

Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign LORD. Ezekiel 13:8

US Supreme Court Hears School Desegregation Case

The United States Supreme Court heard arguments in the case of The Parents Involved in Community Schools v Seattle School District in which the nonprofit organization filed a lawsuit against the Seattle School District for denying admission of a white student to a public high school in an effort to diversify the student populations. This sounds strikingly similar to the Grutter v. Bollinger in which the court held that the University of Michigan was legally sound in its forumla to use race as a factor “in obtaining the educational benefits that flow from a diverse student body.”

If public school admission was based solely on merit and housing patterns, the student makeup would reflect their usually segregated communities in as much. As school boards seek to meet the requirements of Brown v. the Board of Education, is the tenets of affirmative action a catch twenty-two – no discrimination based on race, but race may be used to formulate a student body that ensures no one race is discriminated against?

“Palestine Peace not Apartheid” by Jimmy Carter

Posted by slowerlane on December 5, 2006

Jimmy Carter was featured on C-Span’s In Depth where in addition to his presidency he discussed his latest non-fiction book “Palestine Peace not Apartheid”. The entire three and a half hour video can be viewed online at www.c-span.org by clicking on the link Book TV’s In Depth: Jimmy Carter (12/03/2006)

The interview was quite provocative, as the former president discussed in depth an issue that is rarely addressed in American politics, the dire straits of the Palestinian people at the hands of the nation of Israel. Here are excerpts from the book.

TRANSFORMATIONS
A Bold and Speculative Hypothesis about the Cosmos

by John A. Creager

Introductory Remarks
Much of the literature about cosmology is mostly scientific but some is philosophical. This includes some that is theological. The present project started when I asked a question about the array of “standard models”. Moreover, this includes the “inflation models” of Alan Guth et. al.
These various models purport to start cosmology with a “Big Bang”, in which the cosmos appeared suddenly out of nothing and expanded. This was the beginning. Still unsettled is whether the cosmos expands forever, ends, or returns as a “big crunch”.
